Alan Tudyk was walking his dogs with his wife in Stanley Park, Vancouver when they had a scary encounter with an aggressive coyote.

Alan said he was in town working an acting job filming for the hit series Resident Alien when the coyote ran out of nowhere and grabbed onto one of his dogs, Raisin. They were walking the dogs on a leash and he said his wife went into “mama bear/spider monkey” mode to protect her dogs. He added that it was the leash that saved his pets from getting carried away by the coyote.

For 10 minutes, it would not give up its aggressive attack and continuously snapped at and ran around them trying to grab their pets. Eventually, a couple of cyclists riding by in the area spotted the two struggling and cycled over there to help them and the coyote ran off.

“It wanted my dogs and wouldn’t give up for 10 minutes. Snapped at my wife, grabbed Raisin (greatest terrier mix ever) the leash saved her. Took two cyclists’ help to get out of there. I will be carrying a weapon now,” Alan wrote on Twitter.

Officials say this is the latest of multiple coyote attacks in the park. Two coyotes have already been euthanized and officials will be on the lookout for any more aggressive coyotes.

One of the most recent victims was Azi Ramezani who was jogging on Stanley Park Drive near Prospect Point in January. She was attacked by a coyote that ran out of some underbrush and bit her on the back of her leg. Now it is difficult for her to walk and she said she will not be going back to the park to jog anymore. Listen to Azi tell her story in the video below.
