Cody Johnson is more than just a chart-topping country artist; he’s a true cowboy at heart.

Cody Johnson grew up in Southeast Texas, where he was introduced to rodeo life at a young age. Starting bull riding at just 14 years old laid the foundation for his deep connection to the cowboy way of life.

Now a famous country music star, that strong connection shines through in his music. He reached his first No. 1 hit on country radio in 2021 with the heartfelt song, “‘Til You Can’t.” Since then, CoJo has gained a loyal fanbase through his sold-out tours worldwide. He has also received many awards and recognition for his work along the way.

Johnson connects with his fans through honest music that reflects his real-life cowboy experiences, making them appreciate his authenticity even more.

It turns out, Cody Johnson has even more talent under his belt!

The Texas native might just be eyeing a new adventure in the world of acting. Just imagine Cody Johnson galloping across the screen in Taylor Sherican’s acclaimed Yellowstone. Well, it almost happened!

Johnson revealed to Audacy’s Rob + Holly that he had to pass on a role in the popular series due to scheduling conflicts. Luckily for fans, he also shared that he has been chatting with Sheridan and his team about potential acting opportunities in the future.

“We’ve tried a couple of times [to appear on Yellowstone] and my schedule is too busy to put aside the time. We’re looking ahead to the future,” Johnson shared. “There’s a few movie things where I’m like, ‘Look, if you guys give me the notice, I can make this happen.'”

Johnson also shared that he often reflects on his journey with a sense of humility and gratitude.

“In my younger years, I was pretty wild,” he confessed. “But I’ve been blessed with an opportunity to have a career that I never thought was possible, a marriage that I never thought I’d have, and two little kids that I couldn’t have dreamed of in my wildest dreams. I think you either screw it up or you man up.”

Of course, Johnson wouldn’t be the first country singer to appear on one of Sheridan’s projects.

Lainey Wilson has had a recurring role on Yellowstone. She made her acting debut as Abby, a local musician who becomes a love interest for Ian Bohen’s character, Ryan, in Season 5. During an interview on Hoda Kotb’s Making Space podcast, Wilson explained how she landed a recurring role in the popular Paramount Western series despite having no prior acting experience.

Wilson said she first met the show’s creator when he used her music in the second season. She then shared that it was Sheridan who suggested she join the series during a phone call.

“I said, ‘Well, you know, I’ve never acted a day in my life.’ And he said, ‘Well, most musicians that I work with, without even knowing it, they’re actors and actresses because at times, you got to stand up on that stage,'” Wilson revealed.

And let’s not forget Luke Grimes, who was already a star on Yellowstone before he ventured into country music. Listen to Grimes share how Lainey Wilson inspired him to pursue country music in the video below!
