Driver Spots Wolf Pack Hunting Elk In Yellowstone: Video
on Dec 23, 2020
Traveling through Yellowstone National Park at night, one person caught a rare demonstration of nature’s natural order.
Stopping in the road, the person filmed seven wolves chasing after an elk. Just like every horror movie, the elk trips mid-stride before dashing into the snow. The wolves confidently pursued the animal, working as a perfect team.
According to Distinctly Montana, the observer described the incident on his own terms. The person recalled:
“The Wapiti lake wolf pack is made up of 20 wolves. At last light I witnessed 7 wolves chase a cow elk across the road and eventually kill the elk 50 yards off the road. This occurred in the northern range of Yellowstone national park.”

The former alpha of the Lamar pack formed the Wapiti pack in 2014 after a few years of wandering the area. During the wolf’s time alone, the animal did not find another pack or a mate. Now, the Wapiti pack is believed to be the largest in the surrounding territory.
Despite the area’s wolf population, wolf sightings near roadways are rare, and witnessing the animals pursue prey across the road is even more remarkable.
