Dutton Ranch Parted Ways With Original Showrunner and Creator Before The Show Premiered
Three weeks before Dutton Ranch premiered, Chad Feehan, the show’s creator and showrunner, was fired.

The show debuted on May 15, and Feehan’s firing became public on April 24th.
There were many reports that the show’s stars, Reilly and Hauser, as well as Sheridan and 101 Studios boss David Glasser were “unsatisfied with Feehan’s handling of the production upon completion of the first season.”
Feehan is also credited as being the co-creator of another Taylor Sheridan show, Lawmen: Bass Reeves.
Executive producer and director on Dutton Ranch, Christina Voros, spoke about Feehan’s departure in an interview with ScreenRant’s Liam Crowley.
Voros said Feehan “[did] an exceptional job building a world of adversaries for Rip and Beth.” She added that she is “grateful to him and his team for creating a world for these characters to move into.”
She didn’t go into detail about the “dynamics behind [Feehan’s] departure” from the series.
Who Is Running Season 2 of Dutton Ranch?
According to new reports, Benjamin Cavell has been hired as the showrunner for the upcoming second season of Dutton Ranch.
Cavell is credited with creating or co-creating the shows SEAL Team, The Institute and The Stand, and being a writer and co-executive producer on Homeland.

After a monster Season One, Dutton Ranch was renewed for a second season. If the schedule matches last year, production will begin in August and the season will premiere in May 2027.
