Season One of Dutton Ranch has recently come to an end, but we are already looking forward to Season Two.

The series premiere debuted on May 15th and aired nine episodes, wrapping up the season on July 3rd.

We met new characters, saw Beth and Rip move to a new state and watched them navigate their new life with plenty of twists and turns that came their way.

But now that Season One is over, fans are wondering about all the details for the future of the show. We have some answers for those questions, and we will answer them all here!

Will Dutton Ranch Be Returning For Season 2?

Yes! A second season of Dutton Ranch was announced on June 24th. The show posted the announcement on social media, writing, “We’re just getting started. #DuttonRanch has been renewed for season 2!”

The renewal is not a surprise to fans, seeing as it shattered the record for the largest series premiere on Paramount+, attracting 12.9 million viewers in the first week.

But, fans do have a request for Season 2: more Beth and Rip.

This season, while it did focus on the Yellowstone universe’s favorite couple, did introduce many new characters and plots that people felt Beth and Rip got placed on the back burner.

“Please center season 2 more on Beth and Rip instead of making them a subplot in their own show!” a fan begged.

When Does Season 2 Premiere?

While there’s no official release date for Season 2 yet, we can make an educated guess based on Season 1’s production schedule. The first season began filming in August 2025 and wrapped in March 2026.

As we mentioned earlier, Season 1 premiered on May 15 and aired over eight weeks, with the finale arriving on July 3.

Kelly Reilly recently revealed that the writers are working hard on Season 2 already, and production is “slated to start early 2027 to film.” This may push back the premiere of the second season, but who knows!

It may feel like a long wait, but many of Taylor Sheridan’s previous series have followed a similar production and release schedule, so this timeline wouldn’t be out of the ordinary.

Who Is Returning For Season 2?

While Paramount+ hasn’t announced the full cast for Dutton Ranch Season 2, several familiar faces are all but certain to return. Kelly Reilly and Cole Hauser will once again lead the series as Beth Dutton and Rip Wheeler, with both actors expected to continue their characters’ journey after the dramatic Season 1 finale.

Finn Little is also widely expected to reprise his role as Carter, whose storyline remains central to the family’s future, especially after his kidnapping in the last moments of the season finale.

His romance with Oreana Jackson – and her pregnancy revelation – will keep her around for Season Two, as well as her role in the 10 Petal Ranch.

Beyond the core trio, fans should also expect many of the surviving supporting characters to return as Season 2 picks up the unresolved storylines left by the finale.

Annette Bening’s Beulah Jackson is anticipated to be back, while Jai Courtney’s Rob-Will Jackson appears unlikely to return after his character’s fate in the Season 1 finale.

Season 2 should also bring back Ed Harris as sweet veterinarian Everett McKinney and Juan Pablo Raba as Joaquin, whose characters both survived the events of the first season and still have unfinished business.

Fans should expect Berto Colón’s character, Miguel, to play a much larger role after being revealed as Joaquin’s biological father. With his growing influence and increasingly dangerous ambitions, Miguel appears poised to become one of the primary antagonists in Season 2, setting up a major conflict for Beth, Rip, and the rest of the Dutton Ranch family.

Dutton Ranch cowboys Azul and Zachariah, who have already proven their loyalty to Beth and Rip, are expected to return as well.

Of course, Taylor Sheridan is known for keeping casting surprises under wraps, so additional returning Yellowstone characters or new faces could still be announced as production gets underway.

Who Is The New Showrunner?

Fans of the show were shocked to find out Chad Feehan, the Season One showrunner and creator of the show, was fired three weeks before the series premiere.

Puck reported that the show’s stars, Reilly and Hauser, as well as Sheridan and 101 Studios boss David Glasser were “unsatisfied with Feehan’s handling of the production upon completion of the first season.”

Reilly has recently come out and said that without Taylor Sheridan in the writing room, she felt like a piece of Beth “had to die.”

“I didn’t know if it was gonna work. I didn’t know if she was going to work. It was like a part of the character had to die in order for me to begin her again,” she said.

It has been reported that Taylor Sheridan will be involved in writing Season Two, so it could feel a bit different. Additionally, they hired a new showrunner: Benjamin Cavell.
