Billy Ray is the father of six children, with the majority of them choosing to embark on careers in the music industry, following in their father’s footsteps.
In 1993, after marrying Tish Cyrus, Billy Ray Cyrus adopted her two children, Brandi and Trace. Over their nearly 30-year marriage, the couple welcomed three more children: Miley, Braison, and Noah. Additionally, Billy Ray has a son, Christopher Cody, with Kristen Luckey, whom he dated before meeting Tish.
In April 2022, Billy Ray and Tish conveyed their divorce through a joint statement to PEOPLE, emphasizing the significance of family during that period.
“It is after 30 years, five amazing children, and a lifetime of memories, we have decided to go our separate ways — not with sadness, but with love in our hearts,” they said. “We have grown up together, raised a family we can be so proud of, and it is now time to create our own paths.”
“We will always be family and look forward to a continued and loving shared experience as friends and parents,” they added.

Brandi Cyrus, 36
Brandi Cyrus is Tish Cyrus’s (Now Tish Cyrus-Purcell) daughter from a previous marriage. Upon Tish and Billy Ray’s marriage, he adopted both Brandi and her younger brother, Trace. Engaging in various facets of the entertainment world, Brandi is recognized as an actress, singer, DJ, and TV show host.
She co-hosts two podcasts, Your Favorite Things Podcast and Sorry We’re Stoned and even has a style blog called Style Native.
She used to co-host Cyrus vs. Cyrus: Design and Conquer, a reality television series that aired on Bravo in 2017. Brandi and her mother would compete against each other, venturing out into the streets of their hometown, Nashville, to share their interior-design expertise with friends and build a client base through word of mouth.
Brandi also began riding horses at a young age and credits Billy Ray with helping her become an equestrian.

Trace Cyrus, 34
Born as Neil Timothy Helson in February 1989, Trace Dempsey Cyrus is Tish’s son from her previous marriage. Like his older sister, he was adopted by Billy Ray in 1993, and his name was legally changed. As a musician like most of the Cyrus family, Trace served as the lead singer and guitarist for the band Metro Station, who is most popular for their 2007 hit, “Shake It.”
In August 2023, the musician hinted that being associated with the Cyrus name might have impeded his career.
“I love my family so much, but I think I’d be much more successful if I wasn’t part of a famous family,” he wrote in a Q&A on his Instagram Stories. “People immediately want to judge me and discredit all my hard work because of who I’m related to.”
He also owns the clothing company From Backseats to Bedrooms.

Christopher Cody, 31
Born on April 8 1992, Christopher Cody Cyrus is the son of Kristin Luckey and Billy Ray. His parents had a brief relationship in the months leading up to Billy Ray meeting Tish Cyrus. In a 2009 interview with Mirror, Christopher shared that his mom and step-dad were his primary caregivers, and he had limited contact and connection with the other members of the Cyrus family.

Miley Cyrus, 30
Miley Ray Cyrus, initially named Destiny Hope at birth, entered the world on November 23, 1992. She gained overnight fame as a teen idol with her Disney Channel hit series, Hannah Montana, which aired from 2006 to 2011.
Sixteen years after the show premiered, Miley tweeted in 2020, “My life changed forever when HM premiered.” She also thanked her fans, writing, “Because of your loyalty and support I’ve had the honor to travel the world for over a decade and perform for fans that bring so much greatness into my life.”
Miley continued her successful career as a pop singer, actress, and even reality talent show judge on The Voice for seasons 11 and 13.
In addition to starring in Hannah Montana, Cyrus has held roles in several other projects like Hannah Montana: The Movie (2009), The Last Song (2010) alongside then boyfriend, Liam Hemsworth, and LOL (2012).
As for her musical talents, the performer has been nominated for two Grammys: best pop vocal album in 2015 and album of the year in 2022. A few of her hit songs include “Party in the U.S.A,” “The Climb,” and “Wrecking Ball.”

Braison Cyrus, 29
Born two years after Miley on May 9,1994, Braison Chance Cyrus has also followed in his family’s musical footsteps. The singer unveiled his single “I’ll Never Leave You” in 2018 and released his debut album, Javelina, in 2021.
Braison is an actor and composer, known for Heels (2016), Doc (2001) and Braison Cyrus: Heart is Gold (2020).
He married his wife Stella McBride in November 2019, and they welcomed their first child, Bear Chance, in June 2021.
Braison announced his son’s birth on Instagram, writing, “Bear Chance Cyrus was born June 8th, 2021 at 10:05 PM. He is 9 lbs and 22 inches of pure joy. God poured every bit of his mercy, tenderness, beauty and strength into Bear and @stellamcyrus during her herculean feat of birthing him.”

Noah Cyrus, 24
Noah Lindsey Cyrus, the youngest of the Cyrus family, was born in January 2000. In 2016, she made her musical debut with the single “Make Me (Cry)” and earned a nomination for Best Breakup Song at the 2017 Radio Disney Awards. She was also recognized as one of Time’s 30 Most Influential Teens that same year.
As a child actress she voiced the titular character in the English dub of the film Ponyo, as well as having minor roles on shows like Hannah Montana and Doc.
Now 24 years old, Noah has pursued a career in music and even scored a Grammy nomination for Best New Artist in 2021. She has been open about entering the industry without the help of her famous family.
She reflected during a 2022 interview, “I definitely would like to say that I did create my own way into the music business. I think I did it very independently in a way, like where I don’t think people actually expected that, but that was something that was very important to me was to do it independently.”
