Great White Shark Eats Man’s Fish As He Reels It In

Kristen Glavin from Boston 25 News shared a thrilling video of a great white shark attacking a fisherman’s fish as he was reeling it into the shoreline.
The incident took place on Sunday at Nauset Beach in Orleans, Massachusetts. Matt Pieciak was with a group of his friends and family drinking beer, playing some cornhole, and doing a little bit of fishing when the attack went down.
Maggie Ciarcia who was also having fun with the group started filming as the men alerted the ladies that the fish Matt was reeling in was being attacked by a shark. The ladies screamed as Maggie got up to walk closer and get better footage.
“I just saw the rod kind of start to go off behind him, the tip of it was bending, and from there we just kind of ran over to it,” Matt told WCVB.
Matt asked his cousin to “hold his beer” as he realized his catch was being eaten alive by one of the ocean’s most feared predators, a great white shark.
“Right when the line went tight you could see a big, gray shadow, and we all immediately knew it was probably a great white,” Matt said.
At this point, the surrounding beachgoers were gathering towards the shoreline to watch as the tail fin and dorsal fin of the shark appeared from beneath the water and started thrashing around.
“He or she broke off pretty quickly, and that was it — disappeared into the depths of the ocean, I guess,” Matt said. “There’s no chance the hook I was using for the fish would have even grabbed the shark.”
