Blake’s Bond With A New “Voice” Coach

One of the best parts of The Voice is seeing how Blake Shelton interacts with the other coaches. He has a “frenemy” dynamic with some of them, like former coach Adam Levine or current coach Kelly Clarkson.

Shelton shares a romantic dynamic with occasional coach Gwen Stefani…who just so happens to be his wife.

Most recently, viewers have gotten a kick out of watching Shelton’s playful relationship with new coach Niall Horan. The two have taken to calling each other “dad” and “son.” Their conversations are quite comical to say the least.

Shelton is actually only 17 years old than Horan! But their careers have taken off in completely different eras.

Funny Video Displays Their Dynamic

The Voice shared a hilarious video showcasing Shelton and Horan’s “father-son” dynamic. The video contains clips of them interacting during the blind auditions.

First, we see Horan trying to convince an artist to join his team by doing Shelton’s signature “pick me” finger point. Shelton proudly remarks, “Like father, like son.”

After that, we see a hysterical clip from backstage. Horan asks Shelton if he’d like help getting out of his chair, and Shelton responds, “Thank you son!”

Shelton also jokes about how he needs to show Horan some “tough love” as his honorary son. Though he also says he’s passing his “baton” as the show’s “king” to Horan.

What Do The Other Coaches Think?

Additionally, we hear from Clarkson and Chance the Rapper to get their insights into Shelton and Horan’s relationship. Clarkson starts by saying, “The father-son experience that Blake and Niall are having is actually pretty fun to watch.”

In a later clip, Clarkson comments that Shelton and Horan’s dynamic is “kinda cute.” Chance jumps on the same train, saying their relationship is “great” to see.

The Voice ends their video with a sweet but also humorous clip of Horan giving Shelton a “World’s Best Dad” mug. Shelton jokes maybe Horan should call his real dad first!
