Carrie Underwood’s Quick Thinking Led To An Unforgettable Moment At Trump’s Inauguration
Jason Aldean is giving Carrie Underwood some serious credit for the way she handled technical issues at Donald Trump’s inauguration.
In the lead-up to Trump’s inauguration, it was revealed that Underwood would have the honor of singing “America the Beautiful” during his swearing-in ceremony. Underwood expressed how grateful she was to have the opportunity, releasing the following statement:
“I love our country and am honored to have been asked to sing at the inauguration and to be a small part of this historic event. I am humbled to answer the call at a time when we must all come together in the spirit of unity and looking to the future.”
However, Underwood’s decision to sing at Trump’s inauguration was met with some backlash.
But Underwood still managed to usher in that sense of unity she spoke about. And that unity resulted after some technical problems forced her to think fast.
Underwood stepped in front of the crowd in the Capitol Rotunda and waited for her musical track to start. After a long silence, the music briefly played before cutting out.
After more silence and rustling around, a staff member approached Underwood. The cameras then showed her confidently saying, “I can just sing it.”
She called on the audience to sing along with her before launching into an a cappella rendition of “America the Beautiful.”
Jason Aldean Compliments Carrie Underwood’s Inauguration Day Performance
Underwood earned a wealth of praise for her quick thinking and confidence on Inauguration Day. One of her most vocal supporters was her “If I Didn’t Love You” duet partner, Jason Aldean.
Aldean, who sang at Trump’s Liberty Ball on Inauguration Day, spoke to Fox & Friends about Underwood’s performance. He shared his reaction:
“First of all, it’s a hard song to do anyway. And you know, when you’re supposed to be singing to a track, and you know, that’s what gives you pitch reference for the song. To not have that, for her to just kind of say, ‘Alright, listen…’ and that’s a big move, and that’s a pro move…I thought it was great.”
