Jason Aldean Shares His Thoughts On Post Malone Going Country

What does Jason Aldean think about the recent trend of pop artists venturing into country music?

Country music superstar Jason Aldean was a recent guest on the Taste of Country Nights radio show. When host Evan Paul inquired about how he felt about pop stars trying their hand at country music, the singer/songwriter had mixed feelings.

“It depends,” he began. “It seems like country is one of those things that, you know, whenever somebody’s career maybe is doing not as well as it once did, sometimes they always like to come over to country.”

However, Aldean says that this is “not the case” with rapper-turned-country singer Post Malone.

“I think he’s just a country fan that loves the people in the genre, he loves the music, and I think the country music fans – a lot like they did with Kid Rock – will kind of welcome him with open arms.”

He adds that it feels like Post Malone “fits in” with country music. Aldean concludes:

“He’s a guy the I think could thrive in this business, in our genre, more so than a lot of the other pop guys that try to come over here and do that.”

Jason Aldean, Post Malone, and other country favorites partied together after the ACM Awards

The three-time AMC Entertainer of the Year recalled that he and his country star friends were looking for something to do in Frisco, TX after the annual awards show had concluded. He found himself at a bar just outside of town with Kane Brown, Jelly Roll, and their new friend Post Malone.

A fun night ensued when the group ended up “taking over” the local watering hole and playing beer pong all night. Aldean reflects:

“That’s one of the things that I love about the awards shows, and those kinds of things, is that it’s not so much the show… it’s the stuff like that where you get to hang out with your boys and just have some fun.”

Jason Aldean shows an interest in collaborating with Post Malone

Post Malone is quickly adding impressive names to his list of country music collaborators. He officially launched his venture into country music when he released “I Had Some Help” with country music superstar Morgan Wallen in May 2024.

Since then, the crossover artist has released a song with Blake Shelton and shared teasers of collaborations with Luke Combs and Chris Stapleton.

Jason Aldean says he’s made notice of all the artists working with Post, and says:

“Who knows? We may do something with him at some point.”
