Kelly Clarkson Ends Up In Tears While Speaking About Her Talk Show Finale
on Jun 01, 2026

Kelly Clarkson couldn’t help but get a little teary-eyed while talking about the upcoming finale of her talk show.
Earlier this year, Clarkson announced that The Kelly Clarkson Show will end after its seventh season. With more than 1,200 episodes airing since its debut in 2019, her talk show has become a favorite for daytime viewers.

Recently, actress and singer Rita Wilson reminded her just how much the show has meant to so many people.
Wilson appeared on the show on May 27 to promote her new album Sound of a Woman, but before the interview wrapped, she took a moment to praise Clarkson for everything she’s accomplished.
“I just want to say one thing before we go,” Wilson began. “I want to thank you for the years that you’ve been doing your show. I want to thank you for literally changing the game when it came to daytime television.”
If you’re a fan of the show, you know Clarkson has made it a point to bring her love for music into the mix. In her “Kellyoke” segment, she performs covers of popular songs, and many of those performances have become some of the most talked-about moments over the show’s run.

Wilson continued, “The fact that you love music, that you have brought so much music to daytime, that you have shared with us your voice, your gifts, and everyone else’s, and your incredible band.”
She ended by saying that The Kelly Clarkson Show “has made a big change in my life.”
The moment clearly got to Clarkson, and she couldn’t hold back her emotions. The 44-year-old started to tear up.
“I’m not crying,” she replied, with her eyes obviously glassy. “That’s so nice.”

Why Is Kelly Clarkson Ending Her Talk Show?
Clarkson’s official statement about the end of her talk show came on February 2 via her Instagram page.
The “Since U Been Gone” singer explained that her decision to step away came from wanting to prioritize her kids, Remi (9) and River Rose (11), after the death of their father. Clarkson’s ex-husband, Brandon Blackstock, passed away at 48 in August 2025 after a private battle with cancer.
A portion of her statement read:
“This season will be my last hosting TKCS. Stepping away from the daily schedule will allow me to prioritize my kids, which feels necessary and right for this next chapter of our lives. This isn’t goodbye. I’ll still be making music, playing shows here and there, and you may catch me on The Voice from time to time…you never know where I might show up next.”
Later, Clarkson expanded on her decision during an interview with Carson Daly on The Today Show.
“Our family life, the dynamic changed a bit,” Clarkson said. “And it has changed for a minute now.”
“We’ve all got kids, right? And it’s one of those things when you kind of start seeing life as how precious it is, too. And it’s like, you know what, I just, I’m really busy.”
She isn’t stepping away from the spotlight entirely. Clarkson is still lined up for several projects, just ones that allow her a bit more free time.
For example, she was recently announced as a returning coach on Season 30 of The Voice.
