Kevin Costner’s Estranged Wife Asks For $248K Per Month In Child Support

After 18 years of marriage, Kevin Costner and his wife Christine Baumgartner are divorcing. News broke on May 2 that Christine filed for divorce the day prior (May 1)
Kevin and Christine share three children: Cayden (age 16), Hayes (age 14), and Grace (age 13).
Costner addressed the divorce through a statement released by his representative. The representative shared the statement with PEOPLE. It read:
“It is with great sadness that circumstances beyond his control have transpired which have resulted in Mr. Costner having to participate in a dissolution of marriage action. We ask that his, Christine’s, and their children’s privacy be respected as they navigate this difficult time.”

Kevin Costner & His Estranged Wife File Legal Paperwork Concerning Their Home, Expenses, & More
PEOPLE cites court documents filed by Kevin’s attorneys. He alleges that Christine had 30 days to leave their shared home, which he owned. Their prenuptial agreement allegedly established this deadline. Despite the passing of the 30-day deadline, Kevin claims she remains on the property.
Christine responded to this claim through her lawyer, who said:
“Although the legal basis for Kevin’s request to kick his wife and children out of their home is all but nonexistent, this is still a matter of critical importance for Christine.”
The court documents PEOPLE cites show Kevin is willing to contribute $30,000 toward a rental home for Christine. Additionally, he offered a $10,000 advance to assist with the cost of her move.
These documents show Kevin agreed to pay $38,000 per month in child support. He also offered to pay “100% of certain child related costs, including private school tuition, books, fees and uniforms and school trips, children’s sports, camps and other agreed upon extracurricular activities.” Furthermore, Kevin has agreed to cover expenses such as health insurance, unreimbursed medical expenses, and therapy costs.

Christine Makes Request For Child Support & Other Expenses
Now, new court documents obtained by PEOPLE show Christine’s request for $248,000 per month in child support. Christine claims this “is less than the amount needed to maintain the children in their accustomed lifestyle.” Secondly, she also requested for Kevin to pay for 100% of the kids’ private school tuition, activities, and health care.
These documents also indicate Kevin’s income in 2022 totaled $19,517,0641. Furthermore, the Costner family’s 2022 expenses, excluding taxes, totaled $6,645,285. With expenses and taxes factored in, the family’s net income in 2022 totaled $7,595,520.
According to the documents, Christine did not note a request for spousal support at this time.
