Donald Trump’s Inaugural Celebrations Were Stacked With Musical Guests

On Monday, January 20th, Donald J. Trump became the 47th president of the United States at a historically significant inauguration. Trump, who also served from 2017 to 2021, is only the second president in the nation’s history to have served two non-consecutive terms.

The celebratory inaugural events included a traditional wreath-laying ceremony at Arlington, a “Make America Great Again” Rally, the official swearing-in ceremony, and multiple balls to celebrate the new administration.

Among the performers were Jason Aldean, Carrie Underwood, Parker McCollum, Lee Greenwood, and more.

Donald Trump Personally Invited Lee Greenwood To Perform At The Inauguration

In an interview with The New York Post, celebrated musician Lee Greenwood revealed that he recently was personally invited by Donald Trump to be involved in the inauguration. He shared:

“My wife and I were standing with [Trump] at an event backstage and I said, ‘Are you going to need me in Washington?’ and he said, ‘Absolutely. There’s a couple of events I want you to sing at but you will sing at my inauguration.’”

This was the third time that Greenwood performed his patriotic anthem, “God Bless The U.S.A.,” at a presidential inauguration. He sang it at Trump’s 2017 inauguration and for George H.W. Bush in 1989.

Prior to the performance, Greenwood explained how this performance would be different from previous appearances. He said:

“It will be majestic. It will be live. When it’s live, there’s more electricity in the air.”

The U.S. Marine Corps Band accompanied the 82-year-old for the momentous occasion. The ensemble is the oldest of the United States military bands and the oldest professional music company in the nation.
