Little Big Town Reveals Why Miranda Lambert Was Left In Tears During Alan Jackson’s Last Show
on Jul 22, 2026

Alan Jackson delivered his farewell show at Nashville’s Nissan Stadium on June 27th. Before his performance, artists such as Cody Johnson, Lainey Wilson, Carrie Underwood, Miranda Lambert, and Little Big Town sang tributes in his honor.
Now, nearly one month after the show, the participants still can’t get over how special that evening was.
Kimberly Schlapman and Karen Fairchild of Little Big Town recently appeared on Bobby Bones‘ Bobbycast. They talked about their experience during Jackson’s last show, with Schlapman noting how “phenomenal” Jackson’s voice sounded that night.
The Little Big Town ladies mentioned how the highlight of the night was when Jackson’s longtime friend, George Strait, joined him onstage for two songs. They performed “Designated Drinker” and “Murder on Music Row.”
Seeing Jackson and Strait share the stage for what was likely the last time made another performer a little emotional. Fairchild recalled watching Miranda Lambert fight back tears in that moment.
“She goes, ‘I can’t handle this, I can’t handle it.’ And she started crying tears.”
Fairchild went on to say that she believes Lambert “cried like four times in the night.”

Fairchild said it was an “oh my gosh” moment in the stadium when Strait came out on stage. Even though he was listed on the lineup and his appearance wasn’t a surprise, everyone was left in awe over the rare sight of him and Jackson on stage together.
“It was so special to be part of that kind of celebration,” Schlapman said with a smile.
