Donald Trump Was Inaugurated On Monday, January 20, 2025

A Marine who got the chance to dance with new Vice President JD Vance at one of the inaugural balls has opened up about her experience.

Donald Trump was inaugurated as the 47th President of the United States on Monday, January 20, 2025. He is only the second president in history to serve two non-consecutive terms, the first being Grover Cleveland.

Due to cold temperatures, Trump’s swearing-in ceremony was moved inside the Capitol Rotunda. Vice President JD Vance took the oath of office first, with his wife, Usha, and their three children by his side.

Then, Trump was sworn in, and he delivered a speech. The ceremony also featured musical performances from Christopher Macchio, Lee Greenwood, and Carrie Underwood.

In Underwood’s case, her recorded musical track failed to play when she went to sing “America the Beautiful.” So she made a quick decision to sing a cappella and encouraged everyone to sing along.

Later in the day, Trump, Vance, and their families celebrated at a series of inaugural balls. Those balls featured performances from several country acts, including Parker McCollum and Rascal Flatts.

One of those balls, the Commander-In-Chief Ball, is devoted to military service members. So it only seems fitting that at one point during the event, some service members joined President Trump and Vice President Vance for a dance.

Marine Shares What It Was Like To Dance With JD Vance

Army Sergeant Henry Waller was chosen to dance with First Lady Melania Trump. He spoke about the experience, saying she was “a really good dancer.”

I was just overwhelmed with joy being out on the stage,” he told Inside Edition.

Marine Staff Sergeant Lexus Martinez opened up to the outlet about her experience dancing with Vice President JD Vance. The dance was extra meaningful since Vance is a Marine Corps veteran.

“I was very nervous because I’ve never done anything like that before,” she said.

When asked if Vance was a good dancer, Martinez responded, “Better than me. Better than me. I was so nervous, I probably looked like I had two left feet.”

Martinez also spoke to FOX News about her experience. She said Vance “broke the ice” as they danced.

Vance apparently calmed Martinez down. She said, “It wasn’t as nerve-wracking as I thought it would be.” But she admitted feeling a little nervous when she walked out onstage.

She also joked that she stayed “far away” from Vance to avoid stepping on his feet. They joked about that being a possibility before coming out for their dance.
