Morgan Wallen Responds To Unauthorized Album Release With New Recording of “Spin You Around”
on Jan 26, 2024
Morgan Wallen’s former colleagues are releasing his music without his consent.
On Thursday, January 25, country powerhouse Morgan Wallen had news so important that he said he left the duck woods to share the update with fans. In a social media post, Morgan revealed that he has found himself in a situation where colleagues from a record label with which he is no longer associated plan to release his old music against his wishes.
In 2014, Morgan signed with Panacea Records, based out of Miami, Florida. Morgan says he signed the deal without any legal representation. Together, they made 13 songs, most of which Morgan says “were not my idea nor to my standards.” Eventually, they released the Stand Alone EP which includes a fan-favorite, “Spin You Around.”
Morgan shares that now, 10 years later, colleagues from his former label, along with assistance from his former managers, plan to release a “10th Anniversary” edition of Stand Alone despite his objections and include 8 unreleased songs. He writes:
“For months I’ve been exploring every avenue possible to acquire the rights to this old music & keep the quality of my catalog consistent with songs I choose to release & believe in.”
Morgan calls these actions by his former collaborators a “gross, greedy & an example of how the dark side of the music business can suck the soul out of artists.”

Morgan Wallen’s Response
I response to the difficult situation, Morgan does two things. First, he released his own version of his hit single “Spin You Around” called “Spin You Around 1/24.” He writes:
“I re-recorded “Spin You Around (1/24)” this week in Nashville & it comes out TONIGHT. Thank you Joey Moi & Bryan Sutton. I did the artwork myself while in the woods duck hunting. Hope you like it, lol.”
Second, he announced that he is donating $100k from the Morgan Wallen Foundation to the Volunteer Lawyers & Professionals For The Arts (VLPA) program. The VLPA “provides pro bono legal and business services to income-qualified artists and creative entrepreneurs of all disciplines, as well as emerging nonprofit arts organizations.” He adds:
“I hope young aspiring musicians read this story & know they should never have to give up their creative freedoms for an opportunity in this business.”
Morgan Wallen teases new music coming (from him) this year.
In the post, Morgan admits that he is concerned about fans mistaking this unauthorized release for music that he put out himself. He says:
“I want you to know this is NOT my new music & I don’t want to see this happen to anyone else. I cringe when I listen to these songs.”
Morgan reveals that he will begin recording his next project in February. He adds that he is “feeling inspired creatively & super excited to make more music I’m proud of.”
