For Joanna and Chip Gaines, a fifth child fits their mantra of “The more the merrier…” It’s simple addition: five is simply four plus one. There’s more than enough love to go around.
Seventh Heaven
The Gaines welcomed their fifth child into an already healthy brood of their family of six. But, of course, what does seven rhyme with? Heaven, of course.
And that’s just what it is for Joanna, the new mother of five, as well as the Gaines’ children, ranging in age from 8-year-old Emmie to 13-year-old Drake. Meeting in the middle are Ella, 11, and Duke, 9.
Taking Turns
If anything, it’s a contest between the two sisters to see whose turn it is to love on their little brother, Crew, who’s already 17 days old!

Ready and Willing
Every parent’s hope is that the newcomer to the family is readily accepted and cuddled by his siblings. In this case, there’s been no shortage of love or willingness to cuddle the newest addition to the Gaines’ family. Every sibling is ready and willing.

Most viewers of Fixer Upper would never guess that when Joanna’s on camera, there’s a child attached to her leg. Close to their hearts and always close to home, the Gaines have a rule that they’ll only film within a 40-mile radius of their home in Waco, TX so their children can be close to them.
