Robert Irwin Is All Grown Up

Robert Irwin, the son of the beloved crocodile hunter Steve Irwin, is making headlines with a new underwear campaign.

Since his birth, Robert has been in the public eye. Following his father’s untimely death, he stepped into Steve’s shoes and showcased wildlife on Jimmy Fallon’s late-night talk show.

With the same infectious energy as his late father, he quickly captured the nation’s heart. A video of him with Jimmy Fallon garnered over 40 million views on YouTube alone.

This is how most Americans know Robert Irwin; watch below.

The 21-Year-Old Is Posing For A Mature Underwear Campaign

The “Made for Down Under” campaign showcases the now 21-year-old animal wrangler posing with some of Australia’s wildlife. This time, however, he was wearing only his underwear.

When asked by People if he was nervous about being near poisonous animals, he said,

“I mean, I’ve spent my life wrangling crocs and snakes and rescuing animals. And so to feature a little slice of that excitement in this new campaign, mate, it has been so much fun. I mean, I’m surrounded by spiders and snakes except [this time] I’m in my undies. That’s the only difference.”

Fans Respond To The Risque Photos

In Hollywood, there is a phenomenon where young stars, like Miley Cyrus during her time on Hannah Montana, eventually feel the need to show their fans that they are no longer the kids that America knows and loves.

Was this what Robert intended with his photoshoot? Perhaps.

Either way, fans are freaking out. In People’s comment section, fans voiced their conflicting feelings.

“I’m conflicted I watched your birth episode and now you look like this!!”

“He looks great, that being said I grew up watching his dad’s shows. I REMEMBER them taking Bindi outta school when Robert was born. He feels like a little brother.”

“Sir. I remember when you were born. This is weird.”

“Ok just break the internet.”

“I feel so conflicted. I remember when he was born… but… Crikey.”

The comment section is filled with compliments, but many fans are conflicted. Robert Irwin is no longer the 13-year-old kid that America first met!

Robert Irwin Shares His Thoughts On The New Photos

When asked about how he prepared for this photoshoot, he said, “I’m representing Australia!”

He continued on to say,

“So I wanted to look my best and to feel my best and just feel really confident. And so I’ve done more sit-ups and had less carbs than I ever have in my life, but it’s been fun.”

In the same People exclusive, he was asked, “So which is scarier: wrestling a croc or stripping down to your skivvies for a photoshoot?”

His response was very reminiscent of something his later father would say, “Getting your gear off is way scarier than wrangling a croc!”

He explained,

“Wrangling animals is easy… and I had to do both. It was not on my bingo card. It felt so surreal. But it’s true what they say about Bonds, mate. They keep you comfy the whole way through.”

When asked what his father would think of the photos, Robert laughed and said, “There’d probably be a few ‘Crikeys’ thrown around!”
