The Clearwater Police Department in Florida has concluded its investigation into Hulk Hogan‘s death and what caused it.

On July 24, 2025, police responded to a cardiac arrest call at Hogan’s residence. He was pronounced dead at a nearby hospital shortly after. The former wrestling champion was 71 years old at the time of his passing.

“It is with a heavy heart and deep sadness that we confirm we have lost a legend,” Hogan’s family shared in a statement. “Our beloved Terry Bollea, known worldwide as Hulk Hogan, passed away today surrounded by his loved ones…May we all take solace in the wonderful memories he left behind for the millions of fans worldwide whose lives he touched for more than four decades. He will be missed, but never forgotten.

Hogan’s cause of death was originally reported in late July 2025 as an acute myocardial infarction, more commonly known as a heart attack.

FOX 13 out of Tampa, Florida, reports that in late September 2025, Hogan’s family filed a petition for a 90-day extension to investigate a potential claim of medical malpractice. The family wanted to determine if any of Hogan’s medical providers “could bear responsibility” for the circumstances that contributed to his death.

Since there were still some lingering questions surrounding Hogan’s death, police maintained an active investigation. Nearly one year later, that investigation has been closed.

NBC News reports that Clearwater Police closed its investigation into Hogan’s death on Friday (June 5). The department also issued its last report on the investigation, which further confirmed Hogan’s cause of death.

“Under the circumstances, it fell to the Clearwater Police Department to address, challenge, or validate some of the concerns in the case,” the department said.

Results from an autopsy cited by NBC News found that Hogan died “exclusively from compelling natural disease, with no reasonable traumatic or terminal toxicologic contributions.” The manner of death was determined to be “natural.”

Additionally, Clearwater Police found no evidence of criminal wrongdoing in relation to Hogan’s death.

Hulk Hogan Battled A Series Of Health Issues Before His Death

The Clearwater Police’s report also contained details about other health issues Hulk Hogan faced before he passed away.

His wife, Sky Daily Hogan, informed police that he had undergone a spinal fusion surgery on his neck roughly six weeks prior. Hogan’s therapist,  Justin McCamey, told police Hogan had been in “very poor” health since undergoing the operation.

McCamey noted that Hogan had undergone “approximately 20-30 various knee, hip, and back surgeries over the years.”

Sky Daily Hogan also told police that her husband had undergone heart surgery and had been diagnosed with chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL). The previous 2025 report on his cause of death also contained information about Hogan’s CLL diagnosis, which he had not made public before his passing.

The Clearwater Police Department said that Hogan’s family “was extremely helpful” throughout the investigation into his death.

FOX 13 reports that some materials relating to Hogan’s death will not be released to the public. Such materials include private autopsy results, security camera footage, and Hogan’s medical records pertaining to the case.

The news of the police investigation’s conclusion comes roughly two months after Netflix released a docuseries about Hogan on April 22. Titled Hulk Hogan: Real American, the four-part series features footage from Hogan’s final interview before his death. You can watch the trailer below.
