Scotty McCreery Celebrates Milestone Year For His Career On New Album, 15
Scotty McCreery won Season 10 of American Idol on May 25, 2011. It was only the beginning for then-17-year-old McCreery, who’s been on a wild journey over the past 15 years.
Since winning Idol, seven of McCreery’s singles have reached #1, he won an ACM Award, and he became a member of the Grand Ole Opry.
Now, McCreery is celebrating this milestone year with the release of a new album. The singer recently announced that his latest project, appropriately titled 15, will be released on July 17.

A press release about 15 says the album is a “retrospective” project for McCreery. It features four brand-new recordings and nine of his previous hits, including “Five More Minutes,” “Bottle Rockets,” and “This Is It.”
The album is already available for pre-order on your music service of choice. Fans who’d like a physical copy of the record can order autographed vinyls and CDs on McCreery’s official website.
“Man, fifteen years goes by like a flash,” McCreery said while reflecting on his life and career so far. “Some days it feels like yesterday when I did my initial ‘American Idol’ audition in Milwaukee, while other days it feels like it happened a hundred years ago. I’ve lived a lot of life, traveled millions of miles, and followed my dreams, all thanks to my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, my family, my team, and all the fans who have supported me through these 15 years.”
Scotty McCreery Brings Everything Full Circle By Recording “Your Man” With Josh Turner
Scotty McCreery’s musical journey began with his American Idol audition. He amazed Idol judges Randy Jackson, Jennifer Lopez, and Steven Tyler with an a cappella performance of Josh Turner‘s sultry hit, “Your Man.”
15 years later, McCreery is bringing things full circle by recording that song…with Josh Turner himself. Their duet version of “Your Man” is one of the songs included on McCreery’s new album, 15.
The timing couldn’t be more perfect. On May 14, 2011, 15 years and 1 day ago at the time of this article’s publication, Turner showed up to surprise McCreery at his Idol hometown concert in Garner, North Carolina.
McCreery, a fan of Turner’s since “Long Black Train” was released in 2003, said:
“Getting to know him has been something little Scotty would never have imagined, and having the honor of recording ‘Your Man’ with him is a moment I’ll never get over.”
He joked, “If I was him, I would have been a little irritated that this teenage kid kept singing my songs on TV….but Josh has been nothing but gracious and kind to me from day one, and he even inducted me into the Grand Ole Opry a few years ago. They say you should never meet your heroes but that certainly does not apply here. He’s become a mentor and valued friend.”
The respect is clearly mutual. Speaking about their collaboration, Turner said he is “very honored” that McCreery asked him to sing “Your Man” on his new album.
“He came on the scene singing that song and has had a great career ever since. Of course, I take credit for all of his success!” Turner teased. “Congrats to Scotty on 15 years! It’s no small feat.”
McCreery and Turner released their new duet version of “Your Man” at midnight on Friday, May 15. You can listen to it in the clip below!
