New Details Surface In Greg Biffle’s Home Burglary Case

The U.S. Secret Service has now stepped in to assist the investigation.

Earlier this year, a break-in was reported at the family home of former NASCAR driver Greg Biffle.

The robbery took place just three weeks after he and his family died in a plane crash.

When the home invasion was first reported, it was said that the suspect made off with $30,000 and two firearms. However, warrants later indicated that bank accounts tied to the family were also tampered with before the break-in, and that “hundreds of thousands of dollars” were ultimately stolen.

As of now, it’s unclear whether the bank fraud and home robbery are connected, but investigators have reason to believe they may be part of a larger scheme involving someone close to the Biffles.

Surveillance footage released by the Iredell Sheriff’s Office shows a suspect moving through the home. They appear to be familiar with the layout and know exactly where they are going on the property.

With that information, the U.S. Secret Service has stepped in to help get to the bottom of the case, WBTV confirms.

According to the outlet, an affidavit filed by Mooresville police states that a Secret Service contractor reviewed the footage and used facial recognition software to identify a potential lead on a suspect.

Those findings led to the approval of two search warrants for properties linked to a primary person of interest.

As of now, no arrests have been made, so the name of the person under investigation has not been shared publicly.

Greg Biffle’s Estate Faces $30 Million In Wrongful Death Lawsuits

In addition to the ongoing investigation into the Biffle family home burglary, the estate of Greg Biffle is also facing two wrongful death lawsuits. Each is seeking $15 million.

The lawsuits were filed by the family of Dennis Dutton, the plane’s pilot, and his son Jack, who also lost his life in the crash.

The filings state that the family believes Greg’s lack of proper upkeep and maintenance of the aircraft was a key factor in the crash. They argue that if he had kept up with his responsibilities, the tragedy could have been avoided.

An official final cause for the plane crash that killed Greg Biffle, his wife Cristina, their children Emma and Ryder, Craig Wadsworth, Dennis Dutton, and Jack Dutton has not been confirmed.

The National Transportation Safety Board is still investigating the fatal incident.
