The police report indicates that several alleged car burglars arrived at the bar while Thomas was on patrol in the parking lot.
An altercation ensued when he approached them, resulting in them firing several shots, ultimately leading to Thomas’s tragic death. He sustained 13 gunshot wounds.
Notably, authorities have yet to confirm whether any bullets were discharged from Thomas’s own firearm during the altercation.
In addition to the homicide charge, Moore faces accusations of breaking into cars alongside two accomplices at the time of the shooting. Police have further charged him with three counts of vehicle burglary.
“The defendant can be seen on security footage looking into car windows and at one point jumping through a broken window of one of the parked vehicles,” an arrest affidavit for Moore said.
Security camera footage revealed that the suspects fled the scene in a maroon Chevrolet Cruz.
According to the affidavit:
“The suspects are observed firing their handguns at the victim, striking him numerous times in the legs and lower body.”
Moore is currently being held without bond on the criminal homicide charge.
