Tennessee Needs Help Paying For New Goalposts After Fans Carried Old Ones Out Of Stadium
on Oct 17, 2022
The University of Tennessee announced yesterday (Oct 16) that they will not be able to play next week’s game unless they get 100 thousand dollars to buy new goalposts after fans tore them down and carried them out of the stadium.
The Tennessee Volunteers played a game against Alabama’s Crimson Tide football team and beat them 52-49, which was the first time Tennessee has beat Alabama in sixteen years.
After the game, thousands of Volunteers fans rushed the field, tore the goalposts off, and proceeded to parade them across the field, through the Neyland Stadium, and down the street to toss them into the Tennessee River.

The university is now calling out for help after announcing that they do not have enough money to pay for new ones. They released a public statement on their website asking the student body, alumni, and other fans to contribute in getting new goalposts.
The school sent a tweet on Sunday saying, “Anywho, turns out that in order to play next week’s game, we need goalposts on our field. Could y’all help us out?”
Y’all remember how we tore the goalposts down, hauled em out of Neyland and dumped em in the Tennessee River?
Yeah that was awesome.

When you got the website, there are a few options you can choose to donate. The first option is to donate $16, which corresponds to the number of years it took Tennessee to beat Alabama again.
The second number of dollars a person can donate is $52.49 which was the final score the Volunteers had over Alabama. The last few ways a person can help is by donating $25, $100, $250, $500, or $1,019.15 which corresponds to the capacity of sold-out seats at the Neyland Stadium. You can click here to go to the school’s website to donate if you’d wish.
