Country music icon Toby Keith has been bravely battling stomach cancer since the fall of 2021, publicly announcing his diagnosis in June 2022. His journey has included receiving many treatments, such as surgeries, chemotherapy, and radiationโ in which he is still undergoing to this day.

In an interview with News 9 at his Norman, Oklahoma home, Keith openly reflected on his diagnosis, discussing its impact on both his health and career. Describing the ordeal as โdevastating,โ he emphasized the importance of taking things day by day.
โThis ailmentโฆis devastating. You take it one day at a time. Itโs a rollercoaster.โ
Despite the hurdles, Keith knew that his goal was to continue doing what he loved to do.
The toll of the surgeries on his singing ability became evident as Keith revealed on the Bobby Bones Show that the procedure for stomach cancer affected his voice. Surgeons had to stitch his diaphragm, and coupled with nearly three years of not singing, he faced a tough challenge. However, Keith dedicated himself to strengthen his vocals again, proving his resilience.
He Finds Comfort and Motivation Through His Fans
Throughout the hardships, Keith found gratitude in the overwhelming support from people worldwide following his public announcement of the diagnosis. Surprised by the outpouring of love and prayers, he humbly admitted, โAt first, I was likeโฆโI didnโt know anyone cared that much.'โ
With the motivation that he felt after receiving so much support from his fans, Toby Keith made a triumphant return to the stage with a three-show run at Dolby Love at Park MGM in Las Vegas.

The first show, selling out within minutes and becoming one of the venueโs fastest-selling tickets, featured Keith performing for nearly two hours. A notable highlight from the performance was his latest hit single, โDonโt Let The Old Man In,โ written by Keith in 2018. He also performed the track live in September at the Peopleโs Choice Awards, where he was honored as the PCCAโs Country Icon.
