A New Pathway To United States Citizenship Was Just Announced
Donald Trump’s new immigration policy will allow wealthy individuals to pay to attain a green card to the United States. This new initiative is referred to as the “gold card.”
It offers a path to citizenship for those willing to pay $5 million. According to Trump, the visa will be available for purchase in approximately two weeks. Trump shared this in the video linked below.
“We’re going to be selling a gold card,” Trump said from the Oval Office. “You have a green card. This is a gold card. We’re going to be putting a price on that card of about $5 million and that’s going to give you green card privileges, plus it’s going to be a route to citizenship. And wealthy people will be coming into our country by buying this card.”

What Is The “Gold Card” Replacing?
Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick explained that the gold card will replace the EB-5 immigration investor visa program.
Congress established the EB-5 program in 1992.
The program allowed individuals to receive green cards by making a significant investment in the country. At that time, the minimum investment required was around $1 million, and investors had to create American jobs.
According to Lutnick, the EB-5 program has been susceptible to fraud and other issues.
While the gold card might seem like anyone could just spend $5 million and be a United States citizen, participants will still have to undergo thorough vetting.
“They’ll have to go through vetting, of course,” Lutnick said, “to make sure they’re wonderful world-class global citizens.”
Trump Hopes The “Gold Card” Will Help Pay Off The National Debt
Trump hopes this new gold card initiative will help address the United States’ considerable national debt, which currently stands at approximately $36 trillion. His administration has been tackling this debt through the DOGE program led by Elon Musk.
The President shared a statement regarding the new “gold card,” highlighting its potential to improve the national debt.
“They’ll be wealthy and they’ll be successful, and they’ll be spending a lot of money and paying a lot of taxes and employing a lot of people, and we think it’s going to be extremely successful.”
