Leavitt On Maternity Leave From White House
On May 1, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt, 28, gave birth to a baby girl, named Viviana, or “Vivi” for short.
This is Leavitt’s second child with her husband, Nicholas Riccio, 60.
She shared the first image and statement regarding the birth of her daughter on Tuesday, May 7, writing, “On May 1st, Viviana aka ‘Vivi’ joined our family, and our hearts instantly exploded with love.”
Continuing, Leavitt wrote, “She is perfect and healthy, and her big brother is joyfully adjusting to life with his new baby sister.”
Leavitt’s first child, Niko, is not yet two years old, having been born in 2024.
“We are enjoying every moment in our blissful newborn bubble,” Leavitt added, as she is on maternity leave. “Thank you to everyone who reached out with prayers during my pregnancy — I truly felt them throughout the entire experience. God is Good.”
Notably, Leavitt is the youngest White House press secretary in history, having assumed her role in 2025 at the age of 27.
The next youngest press secretary was Ron Ziegler, then 29, who served during the administration of President Richard Nixon from Inauguration Day in 1969 through Nixon’s resignation in 1974.

It was just this past December that Leavitt revealed she was pregnant with her second child, Viviana.
