There Was No New Episode Of The Voice On Monday, April 1

Fans of The Voice were likely left wondering why there wasn’t a new episode on Monday night (April 1). Instead of sharing new performances, The Voice aired a recap episode.

So why wasn’t there a new episode of The Voice this week? The show’s home network, NBC, provided some explanation on its website.

Instead of new performances, tonight’s [April 1] episode of ‘The Voice’ will feature highlights from previous Season 25 episodes as a best-of recap of the Blind Auditions and Battles.”

While NBC didn’t provide an explanation behind this choice, we assume it has to do with it being a busy night for television on April 1.

The NCAA men’s and women’s basketball tournaments are nearing the end. Four games in the women’s tournament aired on Monday night, which would have eaten into The Voice‘s time slot.

Additionally, American Idol aired a new episode of Hollywood Week performances on Monday night. Also, the iHeartRadio Music Awards aired on FOX the same evening.

The Voice may have decided to take a backseat this week so it wasn’t competing with other programs for viewers’ attention.

The Voice Changes Its Schedule

On top of that, The Voice also announced a schedule change. The show will only air one episode a week for the entire month of April.

From April 1 to April 29, ‘The Voice’ Season 25 will only air once a week, on Mondays at 8/7c. These episodes will mark the Knockouts and then the Playoffs,” NBC explained.

The Knockouts start on April 8. Country superstar Keith Urban will join the show as the season’s Mega Mentor. He’ll be in charge of helping advise the contestants on all four teams as they prepare for the Knockouts.

The Voice aired two episodes per week during the Auditions and Battles. It will return to its two-episodes-a-week format once the live shows begin on May 6.

Reba McEntire, Dan + Shay, John Legend, and Chance the Rapper are the coaches of Season 25. Dan + Shay have made history as the first-ever duo to serve as a coach on the American version of The Voice.

Before the season started, all of the coaches got together for a gospel-tinged rendition of “Put a Little Love in Your Heart.” Watch that uplifting performance below.

We can’t wait to see more of the Voice coaches and contestants when the show returns with a new episode on April 8!
