‘Yellowstone’ Cast Details Extreme Measures Taken To Keep Show Ending A Secret

The second half of Yellowstone‘s fifth season will begin airing on November 10, and even the cast doesn’t know how the final episodes will unfold!
When Yellowstone returns to television later this year, it will mark the first episodes without the show’s lead, Kevin Costner, who exited due to scheduling conflicts. This leaves fans wondering about the fate of his character, Dutton family patriarch John Dutton.
The first half of Season 5 featured Costner and aired in late 2022. In the two years that have passed since then, a lot has happened in the industry and in the Field of Dreams actor’s personal life.
Not only did Costner’s marriage of 19 years come to an end, but the actor was pursuing his passion project, a drama movie series that he had been working on for more than 30 years. Horizon: An American Saga was written, produced, and directed by Kevin Costner, who also starred in the film. The time required to complete the project led Costner to request a strict filming schedule, a requirement that production reportedly wasn’t able to work with. The result was Costner’s exit from the show and an abrupt ending to his character, whose fate will be determined in upcoming episodes.
It appears that fans aren’t the only ones in the dark about how writer Taylor Sheridan will bring an end to John Dutton. The script was kept tightly under wraps, and the set was under high security to protect the plot of the last episodes.

In a video released by Paramount Network, members of the cast described in detail the extreme measures taken by production to keep the storyline hush-hush.
Kelsey Asbille, who plays Monica Dutton, said, “This season has been very secretive.”
“There was a lot of security around the script and the narrative. We get these redacted scripts. Basically everything is blacked out except for your lines,” Jen Landon added.
Other cast members shared that the result of the secrecy was unrehearsed and “visceral reactions” from the actors. The video then shows scenes of the various characters in tears, an indication that the conclusion of this beloved series will have a profound impact on viewers.
