Yellowstone Fans Grow Worried As Season’s Delay Continues

Even the #1 series on TV can’t last forever…

Yellowstone returned with its highly anticipated fifth season last fall. The show promised a super-sized season that would be split in two parts.

The midseason finale aired in the first week of January. Then, everything went quiet.

Yellowstone originally announced that Season 5 would resume this summer. But as the months passed, it became clear a summer release would be difficult, if not impossible.

Anytime cast members were asked about the filming schedule, they’d say they knew nothing about it. For example, Lainey Wilson (who plays Abby) told Entertainment Tonight in April I haven’t got a call yetbut as far as I know they don’t even know when they’re going to be filming.”

During this time, several reports surfaced about Yellowstone‘s future. All were less-than-positive, saying the show was canceled or that Kevin Costner (who plays John Dutton) is planning to leave the series.

Paramount finally put an end to the speculation on Friday (May 5). The network released an announcement addressing Yellowstone‘s future.

Some Good News…And Some Bad News

The good news is, we now have an idea of when Season 5 will resume. Paramount said new episodes will start airing in November.

More good news…Yellowstone is getting a sequel! However, the bad news is that this sequel seems to be a replacement for Yellowstone.

Paramount confirmed the main Yellowstone series is ending after Season 5 wraps up. Despite this, Chris McCarthy, the CEO of MTV Entertainment Studiosseems hopeful about the future:

“‘Yellowstone’ has been the cornerstone on which we have launched an entire universe of global hits,” said McCarthy said. “I am confident our ‘Yellowstone’ sequel will be another big hit.”

David Glasser, CEO of 101 Studios, echoed those sentiments, “The Dutton story continues, picking up where ‘Yellowstone’ leaves off in another epic tale.”

While the announcement didn’t have the best news to share, at least we finally know when Yellowstone will return. We’ll keep you in the loop if any additional details are announced.
