Billy Ray Cyrus Reaches Settlement In Divorce With Firerose Three Months After Filing
Country music artist Billy Ray Cyrus has finalized his divorce from his ex-wife, Firerose.
The couple announced their engagement in 2022 and married in October 2023. Just seven months after saying “I do,” Billy Ray filed for divorce, citing irreconcilable differences and inappropriate marital conduct in court documents.
Billy Ray also requested an annulment on the grounds of fraud.
The former couple’s divorce has been a contentious one, with accusations of mistreatment and misconduct being alleged by both parties. For Billy Ray’s part, he filed a temporary restraining order against Firerose and also accused her of cheating.
PEOPLE confirmed on Monday (August 5) that Billy Ray and Firerose had finalized their divorce and came to a settlement. Billy Ray’s attorneys provided the following statement to the publication:
“This past Friday the parties reached a settlement agreement at mediation to dissolve their 7-month marriage, and the Court declared the parties divorced this morning [August 5]. Mr. Cyrus is relieved to put this nightmare behind him.”
Billy Ray also shared a statement with PEOPLE, saying, “Giving thanks today to breathe a sigh of relief.” He also added that “it’s unfortunate” his and Firerose’s marriage “played out this way.”
Billy Ray posted the same statement on his official social media pages.
Details Of The Couple’s Settlement Revealed
InTouch obtained court documents relating to Billy Ray and Firerose’s divorce settlement. The documents indicate that Billy Ray will not pay alimony or spousal support.
The documents also read, “Each party is awarded all right, title and interest in all premarital assets, inherited assets, clothing, hats, accessories, guitars, and musical equipment, jewelry, and items personal to him or her now in their respective possession.“
Additionally, Billy Ray was awarded all of the horses and livestock at his home. He also gets to keep several vehicles, while Firerose will keep her own Mercedes Benz.
They’ll each keep their own stocks and bonds. Billy Ray gets to keep all interest in his production and publishing companies. He also keeps “any and all right, title and interest” in royalties owed for his own musical works.
InTouch goes on to explain:
“Billy Ray awarded Firerose all ownership, master rights, and copyright interests ‘as well as his share of any writer’s ownership and publishing and writers royalties for the following songs written and/or published by husband and the wife prior to and during the course of the parties’ marriage in order for wife to have one hundred percent ownership.‘”
PEOPLE spoke with an unnamed insider who claims to know Firerose. The insider told the publication that Firerose decided to “walk away without fighting for money in order to be done with the volatile relationship and anything having to do with Billy.”
Billy Ray Cyrus was previously married to Cindy Smith from 1986–1991 and Tish Cyrus from 1993–2022. He has six children, but does not share any kids with Firerose.
