Fans voted for all of the winners at the People’s Choice Country Awards. That is, with two exceptions. Toby Keith and Wynonna earned special honors…The Country Icon Award and the Country Champion Award, respectively.

Shelton got the chance to present the Country Icon Award to Keith.

It was fitting for Shelton to present the award, since he and Keith have worked together before. Once, they performed a “Should’ve Been a Cowboy” duet at the 2018 ACM Awards.

But before Shelton presented the Country Icon Award to Keith, he first honored him with a performance. And not just any performance, but a performance of one of Keith’s biggest hits ever!

Shelton covered Keith’s “Who’s Your Daddy?” The song was released in 2002 and it reached #1 on the Hot Country Songs chart. It also crossed over to claim the 22nd spot on the all-genre Hot 100. It has also been certified Gold by the RIAA for the sale of over 500,000 units.

I know d— good and well y’all know this song,” Shelton said before he started singing, encouraging everyone to join him and sing along.

Keith was on his feet from the get-go, as was the rest of the crowd! You could even see Keith’s wife, Tricia Lucas, smiling and singing the tune herself. Both she and Keith gave Shelton a warm round of applause after he wrapped up the song.
