In a recent Instagram update on Friday, March 1st, Brantley Gilbert shared a heartfelt video capturing the baptism of his son, Barrett.

Born on November 11, 2017, Barrett is already six years old, marking his baptism a significant milestone for the Gilbert family.

“I don’t normally post things like this, but I’ve never been so proud of my little man…‘Three Feet Of Water’ just hits different when it’s your son, and who knows, if it hits ANYBODY half as hard as it hit me, maybe it’ll start somethin…Thanks to Pastor Nick and the folks at Jefferson Church…If y’all ever find yourself our way, come on by and get you some Jesus.”

While welcoming Barrett, Pastor Nick remarked:

“So, I want you guys to know. Barrett had a little special moment with Pastor Nick a couple of weeks ago…Me and Barrett had a great discussion about salvation and baptism, and I want you guys to know this kid right here is a leader. This kid right here has a heart of gold, and he’s going to do amazing things in this world.”

Like Father, Like Son

Shortly after Barrett was first born, during an interview with his label, Big Machine Label Group, Gilbert revealed that his baby boy quickly started to mirror his own traits. With a hint of mischief, he acknowledged that this resemblance spelled out some potential trouble for the future.

“He’s a baby doll, but he’s got a little bit of a temper, and he’s definitely opinionated already. He doesn’t know how to say it, but he’ll let you know. And he’s a little crazy. He tackles the dog. He’s a little over a year old and can run at the dog, and will just hit him wide open. But every day it’s something new. Some things remind me of [my wife], and that’s awesome too. He’s a mama’s boy, and I’m all right with that. I was a mama’s boy. It worked out all right for me.”

Brantley Gilbert’s Expression Of Faith

Brantley Gilbert has always been outspoken about his steadfast connection with his faith. Perhaps one of the best examples is with his song “Three Feet Of Water.”

In the song, the country artist opens up about the pivotal moment when he embraced Christianity and shares the emotional story of his baptism with his fans.

“Long story short, it’s a song about forgiveness, mercy, and grace,” shared Gilbert in an intimate video. “Those are things that I believe in, and I’ve been accused of being a sunny Christian, which is fine. It is what it is.”

See the lyrics to the chorus below.

“And that sun is shinin’ down /
On all my darker days /
They’re comin’ to me now /
As I hear the preacher say /
In the name of the Son and the Father /
Can I really leave it all /
In three feet of water?”
