Brett Favre And Toby Keith “Go Way Back”
The quarterback and country music legend “go way back,” according to Favre. In an interview he did a few days after Toby Keith died, Favre shared his surprise over Toby’s death, saying that he thought the singer had “turned a corner” after seeing him perform in Las Vegas.
Favre explained this interaction with Keith to TMZ Sports:
“I sent him a message and said, ‘Hey man, great to see you back up and playing; I hope that you’re turning a corner. He said, ‘I quit chemo and it probably did more damage to me than even the cancer did.’ And he said, ‘I just hope I didn’t quit it too late,’ but he said ‘I’m thankful I got a chance to play some shows. I finished them.’”
During their text exchange, the singer revealed he had not improved but instead chose to stop chemo. He sadly passed away two weeks after this text exchange with his friend. That was the last time they spoke.
