Country music has once again made its mark on the mainstream charts!

A trio of country songs have recently been ranked in the top three positions on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and the significance of this achievement cannot be understated. Leading the charge on the chart is Oliver Anthony’s super viral and emotional song, “Rich Men North of Richmond.”

This week, “Rich Men North of Richmond” debuted at the #1 spot on the Billboard Hot 100 chart at a time when Oliver Anthony was virtually unheard of. However, now that his song has received more than 34 million views in two weeks, people are starting to talk about him.

He has become the first artist to ever secure a #1 debut with their first appearance on the chart and adding to this unprecedented achievement is the fact that Anthony is also the first independent artist, unbound by the confines of a record label, to attain the top spot on the chart.

Here Are The Top 3 Country Songs Dominating The Chart

Making its climb alongside “Rich Men North of Richmond,” Luke Combs’ rendition of Tracy Chapman’s, “Fast Car,” took the #2 position on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. Meanwhile, Morgan Wallen’s hit, “Last Night,” eventually gave the top spot to Anthony, yet maintained on the chart in the #3 spot.

Luke Combs’ consistent presence at the #2 spot for several weeks had some wondering if it would eventually overthrow Morgan Wallen’s “Last Night,” #1 position. However, now that Anthony’s “Rich Men North of Richmond,” is going viral and has taken the spot, we’ll see what happens over the next few days and weeks.

Beyond the friendly competition, we’re just happy to see that country music is dominating the charts of the mainstream. Having the top three spots being country songs is an extremely rare occasion and this is only the second time in history that it has happened. In fact, it wasn’t that long ago that it happened for the first time.

The first time country songs claimed the first top three spots on the Billboard Hot 100 was just last month with Jason Aldean’s “Try That In A Small Town,” Morgan Wallen’s “Last Night” and Luke Combs’ “Fast Car.”

We may be living in the year 2023 and a lot of things have changed, but you can clearly see that country music is alive and doing well. As we sit back and wait to see what new country song will break the internet again, let’s give a round of applause to these great artists putting in work to represent the good ol’ average American.
