Landis Hooks is being hailed as a hero after saving his son from a charging bull at a Texas rodeo.

18-year-old Cody Hooks was thrown from the back of a bull while competing at a rodeo in Belton, Texas. The teen was knocked unconscious after landing hard on the ground.

Handlers attempted to keep the bull away from Hooks who lay motionless. But, when the bull failed to be deterred, Cody’s dad jumped into action and covered his son’s body with his own just before the bull charged him.

Cody posted a clip of his father’s selfless actions on Instagram, saying: “Not one to post falling off, but big thanks to my dad @hooks.landis and the bullfighters last night in Belton, Tx.”
