President Donald Trump Has Signed Another Historic Executive Order

On Monday, January 27, President Donald Trump delivered remarks in Florida to House Republicans at their annual retreat. He discussed his first week in office and his plans for the upcoming weeks.

He highlighted an executive order he had signed that day, fulfilling another campaign promise. The order stated that construction on a missile defense system called the Iron Dome would take top priority and begin immediately.

During his speech, Trump said Americans “protect other countries, but we don’t protect ourselves.” He emphasized the importance of protecting America and reiterated that it was time to secure the country.

This initiative aligns with his “America First” agenda and will be overseen by Pete Hegseth, who was recently confirmed as Secretary of Defense.

Trump said at the event, “Pete Hegseth, who’s going to be great, by the way… I think he’s going to be fantastic. I know him very well. I think he’s going to be fantastic. He’s what we need, to immediately begin the construction of a state-of-the-art Iron Dome missile defense shield, which will be able to protect Americans. “

What Is The Iron Dome?

The Iron Dome is a key component of Israel’s defense system. It was developed by Rafael Advanced Defense Systems and Israel Aerospace Industries.

It uses radar to detect and track incoming rockets and missiles. Then, it assesses which threats could potentially impact populated areas.

Once a threat is confirmed, the system fires intercepting missiles at the incoming projectiles. According to Donald Trump’s Speech in Florida, the Iron Dome has a high success rate.

He said that “out of 319 rockets, they knock down just about every one of them.”

According to the official statement, the goal is to protect the United States from “ballistic, hypersonic, advanced cruise missiles, and other next-generation aerial attacks from peer, near-peer, and rogue adversaries.”

The History Of The Iron Dome

The White House also wrote in the statement that “President Ronald Reagan endeavored to build an effective defense against nuclear attacks, and while this program resulted in many technological advances, it was canceled before its goal could be realized.”

In 1983, President Ronald Reagan first proposed the concept of an Iron Dome, which he referred to as the Strategic Defense Initiative.

At the time, many of his peers dismissed the idea, mockingly calling it “Star Wars” and claiming that such technology was purely fictional.

Trump mentioned this during his speech but went on to point out that the technology now exists and that the U.S. should have it. He also promised to build the entire project in America. In his own words:

“Now we have phenomenal technology. You see that with Israel. So, I think the United States is entitled to that. And everything will be made right here in the USA 100%.”
