Ella Langley Reveals The Surprisingly Short Amount Of Time It Took To Write “Be Her”
on Jun 04, 2026

Ella Langley proves that some of the best things come naturally.
Her sophomore album, Dandelion, dropped in April of this year and includes the record-breaking hit “Choosin’ Texas.” The album topped both the Billboard Top Country Albums and Billboard 200 all-genre charts – a career first for Ella.
Additionally, with “Choosin’ Texas” taking up residency at number one, she became one of the few artists ever to simultaneously have a No. 1 album (Billboard 200), No. 1 song (Hot 100), and No. 1 Artist 100 ranking.
Other standout songs from the 18-track record include the title track “Dandelion,” “Be Her,” and “Bottom of Your Boots.”

How Ella Langley Wrote A Hit In Record Time
“Be Her” was co-written by Ella Langley, Jordan Schmidt, Hardy, and Smith Ahnquist. Miranda Lambert and Ben West served as producers for the track. It was released in March as the second single from Dandelion.
In a recent conversation with PEOPLE, Ella spoke about her songwriting process and explained that, even though she knew what direction she wanted Dandelion to take, she aimed to let the music speak for itself and not overthink it.
As a result, “Be Her” was written in just half an hour. Ella shared:
“That song took 30 minutes to write, and it’s because we didn’t try so hard. We didn’t sit in there and try to outdo ourselves every single line and it just, if it felt right, we put it in the song.”

The Alabama native says that “You & Me Time” and “Broken” were similar in terms of ease of songwriting. She aimed to write songs that the fans can sing along to and added:
“My hope is that they can hear it’s authentic. There wasn’t any mistakes on this record. There wasn’t any song that wasn’t meant to be on there. Everything tells a story.”
Billboard has named “Be Her” the number-three song of the summer so far, behind “Choosin’ Texas” at number two.
