New Opry Member Jon Pardi Postpones Three Shows On His Tour Just One Day After His Induction Ceremony
The past few days have been a series of highs and lows for Jon Pardi. On a high note, he became the newest member of the Grand Ole Opry on Tuesday (October 24).
Garth Brooks showed up to help welcome Pardi into the Opry family. When presenting Pardi with a replica of the Opry’s iconic microphone, Brooks said, “This is me and you joined in holy matrimony, by the common love of country music.”
Pardi made history with his membership. He is the first native Californian to ever be a member of the Opry.
Jon Cancels Three Shows After Getting Sick With Strep Throat
Unfortunately, things weren’t so good for Pardi the following day (October 25). The new Opry member didn’t feel the best, and eventually learned he has strep throat.
Because of this, Pardi made the tough decision to postpone three upcoming shows on his tour. He shared the bad news in a video he posted on social media, saying:
“These are not my favorite videos to do…I’ve come down with strep throat. I thought it was allergies and such, but a doctor says strep throat, and I don’t feel well. And I wanna be 100% for you guys and I can’t do that this weekend. I have to rest.”
Pardi added, “So I apologize from the bottom of my heart. I hate it.” Watch his video below.
