The 58th Academy of Country Music Awards are underway in Frisco, Texas, and they got kicked off in style.

11-time ACM Award winner Keith Urban got the party started with a rousing performance.

Playing a guitar that once belonged to Waylon Jennings, Urban appropriately started the night with a rocking performance of the line dance-worthy tune “Texas Time.”

Keith Urban wasn’t up for any awards this year, but was named Entertainer of the Year in 2018, an award he had been nominated for 8 times before winning.

Urban is also a two-time Male Artist of the Year winner (previously called Top Male Vocalist). His collaboration with Carrie Underwood, “The Fighter,” in 2017 earned him Vocal Event of the Year honors.

Keith’s long relationship with the Academy of Country Music and his incredible career success made him the perfect artist to open one of country music’s biggest events. His performance of “Texas Time” put the crowd at Ford Center at the Star in Texas and viewers at home in the mood to celebrate all of the genre’s achievements in the last year.
