Power couple Keith Urban and Nicole Kidman found themselves at the center of a joke during Nikki Glaser’s opening monologue at the 82nd annual Golden Globe Awards.

Nicole Kidman nominated for Lead Actress at the Golden Globes

Nicole Kidman, the highly decorated actress and wife of country music star Keith Urban, was recognized at the Golden Globe Awards on Sunday, January 5th.

The annual awards show celebrated “excellence in film and American television productions of 2024.”

Kidman was nominated for “Best Performance by a Female Actor in a Motion Picture – Drama” for her role as Romy in the steamy film Babygirl.

According to IMDb, Babygirl follows a CEO who “puts her career and family on the line when she begins a torrid affair with her much younger intern.”

This was Kidman’s eighteenth Golden Globe nomination. Although she ultimately did not win the award this year, she has taken home six trophies in the past.

Comedian Nikki Glaser teases Keith Urban and Nicole Kidman at the Golden Globes

Keith Urban accompanied his wife to the high-profile awards show. Comedian Nikki Glaser, who is famous for roasting other celebrities, hosted the ceremony. She was the first solo female host in the show’s history.

Glaser opened the show with a 10-minute monologue full of pop culture references and jokes aimed at audience members. No one was immune to her jabs, including Kidman and Urban.

Glaser welcomed the couple and recognized Nicole for her performance in Babygirl, a film to which she says she gives “two fingers up.”

The comedian comments on the amount of hard work that Kidman had dedicated over the years before turning her attention to the country singer. She looks at Urban and says:

“Thank you to Keith Urban for playing guitar around the house so much that she wants to leave and make 18 movies a year.”

Keith Urban and Nicole Kidman laughed at the playful jest along with the crowd.
