Kelly Clarkson Performs Cover Of Chris Stapleton’s “White Horse”
on Mar 15, 2024
To kick off every episode of her Emmy Award-winning talk show, The Kelly Clarkson Show, Kelly Clarkson does a segment called “Kellyoke,” where she covers fan-requested songs.
The beauty of this segment is the fan involvement, and also that the songs are of all genres! Clarkson has proven she really can sing anything. Recently she covered the rock song “1985” by Bowling for Soup and fans just went absolutely nuts.
She even caught the attention of the band! They shared her video on their Facebook page and wrote, “Who else caught Kelly Clarkson performing ‘1985’ today on The Kelly Clarkson Show? Thank you so much! Let us know when you want to perform with us next time!”
Lately, it seems she has been getting the attention of the artist she covers!
On February 15, she covered Jelly Roll’s powerful song “Save Me,” and he took to social media to let Clarkson – and his fans – know what it meant to him.
“I would’ve never believed you if you would’ve told me that I’d write a song so impactful that incredible Kelly Clarkson would deem it worthy to cover,” Jelly Roll wrote on X. “Thank you Kelly- wow – I’m honored in a way I can’t even described – I cried watching it.”
She even had Lainey Wilson join her for Kellyoke after performing her songs “Heart Like A Truck” and “Smells Like Smoke.”

Kelly goes country once again.
Even though Clarkson can sing everything, we feel that her best singing is done in the country genre. She proved this yet again on March 14th with her cover of Chris Stapleton’s 2023 song “White Horse,” which just recently became his fourth number one song.
A bluesy, rock, country mashup, the song was Stapleton’s first single off his number one album Higher, which was released on November 10, 2023.
Clarkson gave her signature soulful flare to the song, but let’s be honest…anything Stapleton releases is right in her wheelhouse. Watch her perform her incredible rendition of “White Horse,” that fans are calling her best cover yet.
