Kenny Chesney Confirms He’s Starting A Residency In Las Vegas

Fans’ suspicions were correct; country music superstar Kenny Chesney is getting his own residency at the Las Vegas Sphere!

Chesney’s fans first started speculating about his plans when the “Take Her Home” singer teased “what’s next” in a post he shared on social media earlier this month. He posted a photo that shows him rehearsing with his band and captioned it:

“New year and new experiences. Started rehearsals today for what’s next. Can’t wait to share. KC.”

After seeing that post, some fans started speculating about a potential Vegas residency. Then, excitement reached an all-time high when the Las Vegas Sphere shared an extremely specific teaser on Wednesday (January 15).

The Sphere is a state-of-the-art music venue that opened in Las Vegas in September 2023. So far, the Sphere has hosted acts such as U2, the Eagles, Phish, and Dead & Company.

The venue’s exterior features over 580,000 square feet of LED displays. On January 15, the Sphere shared a video of those displays playing a calm ocean scene with waves crashing on the beach.

Then, among the waves, a familiar blue chair, an acoustic guitar, and a cowboy hat appeared.

The old blue chair has become synonymous with Chesney over the years. In 2004, he released a song titled “Old Blue Chair,” and his 2005 album is titled Be As You Are: Songs From An Old Blue Chair. He also named his rum brand after his signature chair, calling it Blue Chair Bay Rum.

Needless to say, after seeing the Sphere’s teaser, it was all but confirmed that Chesney would have a residency there. But the singer himself finally confirmed the news during an appearance on TODAY on Thursday morning (January 16).

When Will Kenny Chesney’s Residency Start?

Chesney will be the first country artist to have a residency at the Sphere. He shared his excitement on TODAY, saying they’ve been working on the plans since last May.

“…when the people from Sphere expressed interest in talking with us, I was all in,” he said. “I knew it’d require mountains of work to create something that embraced the 4-D technology while raising the experience so No Shoes Nation was immersed in music, visuals, sound and being together. To me, this is going to be a whole new way of rocking the fans, and I can’t wait.”

He added, “We’re thrilled, we’re really excited.”

An article from TODAY states that Chesney will headline a dozen shows at the Sphere over the course of four weeks. Those dates are:
