The night not only celebrated Keith’s career achievements but also highlighted his charitable efforts. A significant portion of the ticket proceeds supported The Toby Keith Foundation’s OK Kids Korral, which offers a cost-free home for families of children undergoing cancer treatment. Additionally, funds from ticket sales were directed to the Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt.
Toby Keith passed away on February 5 after a brave two-year battle with stomach cancer. Since his passing, the country music community has united to remember his contributions in multiple ways.
Many country artists have paid tribute by performing covers of his classic songs at various events. Earlier this year, Lainey Wilson was featured in a special CMT Awards Tribute, where she closed out the performance with a rendition of Keith’s “How Do You Like Me Now?!”
At Toby Keith: American Icon, Lainey Wilson once again honored Keith with a performance of his song “Beer For My Horses.”
During the special night, Lainey Wilson’s performance of Toby Keith’s 2002 track “Beer For My Horses” highlighted just how much Keith influenced the country music genre.
Wilson made a memorable entrance to the arena by riding in on horseback. She rode the horse through the audience all the way to the stage before dismounting to deliver a rendition of Keith’s song. It was definitely an unforgettable way to pay tribute to Keith’s unmatched legacy.
