on

Season 2 of Marshals premiered on October 4, 2026. The series stars Luke Grimes as Kayce Dutton, along with Arielle Kebbel, Logan Marshall-Green, Ash Santos, Tatanka Means, Brecken Merrill, Gil Birmingham, and Mo Brings Plenty.
At the time of this writing, three episodes from Marshals’ second season have aired. Each one has been packed with drama and danger, with the Season 2 premiere ending with one character’s death.
According to CBS, the Season 2 premiere of Marshals drew in 8.21 million viewers, an 8% increase from its Season 1 average. This made it the #1 scripted series on TV.

With numbers that good, you’d think that Season 3 of Marshals would be guaranteed. But because it’s still early, the show has not been officially renewed for a third season… yet.
Luke Grimes recently sat down with ScreenRant to share what he knows about Season 3. Is it happening or not?
The truth is, Grimes has been kept in the dark like everyone else! As he explained:
“We haven’t heard anything yet, but this past season, the pickup was so fast, so I don’t know what to expect. I think one of them aired, and they’re like, ‘We’re doing it again!'”
Grimes is referring to the fact that Season 2 of Marshals was confirmed shortly after Season 1 debuted. The first season premiered on March 1, and Season 2 was announced just 11 days later.
So, if the show gets renewed for a third season, the news could come soon. But Grimes said whenever that news hits, he’ll learn alongside everyone else. “…I’m sure you guys will all find out when we find out,” he remarked.
Is Dutton Ranch Going To Cross Over With Marshals? – Luke Grimes Answers That Question
On top of wondering about Season 3, Marshals fans have been curious about the possibility of a Marshals and Dutton Ranch crossover. Both shows are Yellowstone spin-offs that follow members of the Dutton family: Kayce Dutton in Marshals and Beth Dutton in Dutton Ranch.
Dutton Ranch is between seasons at the moment, with its second season expected to start production sometime in early 2027. Because it and Marshals are on different schedules, would it still be possible for them to squeeze in a crossover?
Luke Grimes answered that question during an interview with The Hollywood Reporter. He didn’t say “never,” but indicated that such a thing would be highly unlikely during Marshals‘ current season.
“Yeah, I think we all knew it wasn’t going to happen that quickly,” Grimes said. “I think we have to let our shows stand on their own for a while, and get on their own two feet.”
If Marshals does get renewed for a third season, maybe the timing will work out for it to crossover with Season 2 of Dutton Ranch. Guess we’ll just have to wait and find out!
What have you been thinking of Marshals so far? What would you like to see happen in future episodes?
