Just five days after his stroke, Perry has passed away at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Burbank, California – TMZ reports.
Perry’s rep, Arnold Robinson, told the publication that Perry was surrounded by his children, fiance, ex-wife, mother, step-father, siblings, and many other family members at the time.
TMZ says that doctors had been working to help his body recover from the stroke and had hoped his brain had a good chance to heal itself, but it turned out that the damage was too extensive.
Now, his daughter, Sophie has spoken out after the family’s tragedy and explained that she simply is at a loss for words right now – and extended her heartfelt gratitude for the immense amount of support from everyone across the globe.
“A lot has happened in this past week for me. Everything is happening so fast. I made it back from Malawi just in time to be here with my family, And in the past 24 hours I have received an overwhelming amount of love and support,” Sophie wrote on her Instagram.
Alongside a cute photo of her and her father on a farm next to a horse pasture, she continued on, saying “I cannot individually respond to the hundreds of beautiful and heartfelt messages, but I see them, and appreciate you all for sending positivity to my family and I.”
“I’m not really sure what to say or do in this situation, it’s something you aren’t ever given a lesson on how to handle, especially when it’s all happening in the public eye. So bear with me and know that I am grateful for all the love. Just, being grateful quietly.”

My heart is sad for Luke Perry’s family. I got to work on the movie 8 seconds where Luke played the role of Bull Rider, Lane Frost, and he did a superb job. I can’t believe he’s gone so young.
