Josh Turner may have just had the most unique performance opportunity of any country artist.

Josh Turner Performs For Astronauts at the International Space Station

In a video posted to his social media, Turner shared a day in his life that was anything but ordinary. While heading to a gig, he revealed that this performance was unlike any he had done before— he was invited by NASA to perform at the Johnson Space Center in Houston, Texas, for the astronauts currently in space.

“This is kind of a one of a kind gig for me,” Turner said in a clip of the video. “We were already here in Texas so we figured we’d swing by and sing a little country music for the astronauts.”

About the Four Astronauts Currently In Space

Right now, four astronauts are aboard the International Space Station (ISS), including Butch Wilmore and Suni Williams.

Over the past few months, the two have made headlines after they arrived in space in June for what was initially planned as an eight-day mission. However, a defect in the Boeing Starliner capsule that brought them prevented their scheduled return. In late August, NASA determined that the Starliner capsule could not safely bring Wilmore and Williams back to Earth. Because of this, the spacecraft returned unmanned, temporarily stranding the two astronauts on the ISS.

To bring them home, NASA launched SpaceX’s Dragon capsule from Cape Canaveral, Florida, on September 28. The capsule carried Crew-9 members NASA astronaut Nick Hague and Russian cosmonaut Alexander Gorbunov. The Dragon capsule successfully docked with the ISS, joining Wilmore and Williams. Now, all four astronauts are expected to return to Earth together in February 2025.

When it was time for Josh Turner to sing for the astronauts in space, he delivered a special rendition of his song “Two Steppin’ On the Moon” through a phone line connected all the way to the ISS. The four astronauts were captured on camera, dancing along and enjoying Turner’s music from miles above Earth.
