on Aug 14, 2023
Parker McCollum was joined on stage in Colorado by NFL football star, Peyton Manning.
Football meets country music, a southerner’s dream come true.
Peyton Manning, also known as “The Sheriff,” is arguably one of the greatest quarterbacks in history. Playing a total of 18 seasons in the National Football League, Manning spent 14 seasons with the Indianapolis Colts and 4 seasons with the Denver Broncos. The University of Tennessee Grad has quite a list of accomplishments.
He was named the 35th member of the Broncos Ring of Fame, he was the NFL’s most valuable player a record 5 times—two more than Tom Brady—and set the all-time SEC record at Tennessee for career wins with a whopping 39 wins. He is also a proud country music fan, even hosting the 2022 CMA Awards with Luke Bryan.
Manning has appeared on stage with numerous country artists over the years, including Dierks Bentley, Jordan Davis, Kenny Chesney and more. Most recently the NFL great joined 2022 ACM New Male Artist of the Year Parker McCollum for a surprise appearance.
Parker McCollum worked his way to the spotlight from the ground up.
The “Handle On You” singer was always around music as a kid, and started showing an interest in it from a young age. He started playing gigs all over Texas at 16 years old, but didn’t release his first EP until 2013 when he was 22 years old. McCollum released his first full album, The Limestone Kid, in 2015, but didn’t start gaining national recognition until 2017 when he released his EP, Probably Wrong: Session One.
Parker signed a record deal with Universal Music Group in 2019 and released his first single, “Pretty Heart,” soon after. The single made it to #1 on country radio, and went to #4 on the country Billboard chart. His next big claim to fame was his 2021 album, Gold Chain Cowboy. His song “To Be Loved By You” rose to success the same year. Parker won the New Male Artist of the Year at the 2022 ACM Awards, which was the first award he was ever nominated for.
