Who knew she had these kind of skills? Actually, we did!

Actress-turned-country singer Rita Wilson was present at the 73rd Annual Emmy Awards and now we know why! During the opening number, host Cedric the Entertainer wanted to celebrate being back with a live audience after last year’s virtual ceremony. After a pre-recorded speech, he came out on stage rapping to the Biz Markie song “Just A Friend.”

Actors in attendance including Mandy Moore, Anthony Anderson, Tracee Ellis Ross, the cast of Hamilton, Billy Porter and more helped with the singing parts. The other rap parts were performed by LL Cool J, Dave “Lil’ Dicky” Burd, and Rita Wilson of all people!

But…if you paid attention to her social media in 2020, you would know that she’s always had these rap skills, she was just hiding them away!

While in quarantine in early 2020 while she and husband Tom Hanks were recovering from COVID-19, Wilson passed some of the time by rapping “Hip Hop Hooray” in its entirety and posted it on Instagram. She blamed it on “Quarantine stir crazy,” but her fans were loving every second of it!
