Trump Reverses Order To Strike Iran “VERY HARD” As Peace Negotiations Advance
on Jun 11, 2026 • Updated Jun 11, 2026

In the morning of Thursday, June 11, after days of renewed military action between the United States and Iran, President Donald Trump posted on Truth Social that “the United States will be hitting Iran … VERY HARD TONIGHT.”
This was in keeping with military action conducted by the U.S. over the past few days, with “self-defense strikes” initiated after Iran shot down an Apache helicopter on Monday, June 8.
It also came as Trump revealed that the U.S. had managed to remove 100 million barrels of oil from Iran over the past month, with “total control” of the oil in the Islamic State being its next objective.
However, by the afternoon of June 11, the order to hit Iran “VERY HARD” was withdrawn by Trump.
“Based on the fact that discussions with the Islamic Republic of Iran have been brought to the highest level of Iranian leadership and approved, I have, as President of the United States of America, cancelled the scheduled strikes and bombings against Iran this evening,” Trump wrote on Truth Social.
He went on to note that “discussions and final points have been, in both concept and great detail, approved by all parties involved,” citing that partners in the path toward an agreement with Iran include the United States with “Israel, Saudi Arabia, UAE, Qatar, Turkey, Pakistan, Bahrain, Kuwait, Jordan, Egypt, and others.”

“We just made a great settlement in the war with Iran,” Trump said from the Oval Office ahead of a June 11 proclamation signing. “It will be subject to finalization of documents — it should get done in the next few days.”
Trump then said that there will be a signing ceremony for the settlement, saying it will likely be in Europe and that “it’s a great thing.”
He went on to say that the deal will bring the cost of gasoline down, as the Strait of Hormuz will open once it is signed.
Further, he said the deal ensures that Iran will never have a nuclear weapon.
“They want it just as much as everybody else wants it,” Trump added, noting that while he will not be able to attend the signing ceremony, Vice President JD Vance would be there on his behalf if it is signed this weekend.
Trump Shares Details Of Secret Plan To Remove Oil From Iran
In the Oval Office on June 10, as Trump signed the Secure America Act — which provided $70 billion in funding to ICE and Border Patrol following a lapse in funding earlier this year — the president took a moment to share a recently disclosed secret.
Asked about rising inflation, Trump replied, “I can say it now, something you didn’t know. Did you know we’ve been taking out millions of barrels of oil [from Iran]?”
He added, “Nobody knows that. You know who doesn’t know about it? Iran, until right now.”
Continuing, Trump said, “We took out the other night 22 ships, late at night with no lights, ’cause they don’t have any radar ’cause we blasted the crap out of it.”
These clandestine efforts, Trump said, are the reason why oil is presently at $85 per barrel, considerably lower than its all-time high amid the ongoing war of $112 in April.
According to AAA, the national average gas price, on June 11, is $4.1290. One month ago, that average was roughly $0.40 higher, coming in at $4.5200.
Expounding upon this on Truth Social, Trump wrote:
“Last month, I directed our Great U.S. Military to execute a secret mission to support Oil Tankers and other Commercial Ships through the Strait of Hormuz. Today, I am pleased to announce that this effort has resulted in more than 100 MILLION Barrels of Oil making its way through the Strait, and into the Open Market.”
Altogether, Trump says over 200 commercial ships have crossed through the Strait, and he went on to attribute this to the United States’ authority over the contested Strait of Hormuz.

In Trump’s initial June 11 post on Truth Social — in which he promised that “the United States will be hitting Iran … VERY HARD TONIGHT” — he also stated his intent of taking Kharg Island.
“At some point in the not too distant future, we will be taking Kharg Island, and other oil infrastructure points,” he wrote in the social media announcement.
Kharg Island is the primary oil export terminal in Iran, Brittanica notes. Seizure of the island would lead to control of most of the oil coming from Iran.

Other strikes over the past few days were done by the U.S. after Iran shot down an Apache helicopter.
While both pilots were rescued from the downed helicopter, Trump said it was something that, “of necessity,” the U.S. would need to “respond to this attack.”
Further, for the first time since a ceasefire was agreed to in April, Iran fired missiles at Israel on June 7.
This is a developing story.
