In the lead-up to the prestigious Academy of Country Music (ACM) Awards, the country music community is buzzing with anticipation, speculating on who will take home the night’s highest honor—Entertainer of the Year.

The ACM Entertainer of the Year Award stands as the pinnacle of achievement within the country music industry, symbolizing the highest level of recognition for an artist’s performance and contribution over the past year.

Presented by the Academy of Country Music, the Entertainer of the Year Award has been an annual accolade since 1970, making it a long-standing tradition within the country music community. This award not only celebrates the recipient’s musical achievements but also their ability to captivate and entertain audiences, hence the title “Entertainer of the Year.”

The honor is currently held by Chris Stapleton for the year 2023. Garth Brooks, with six wins, holds the record for the most Entertainer of the Year Awards.

Among the nominees for the 2024 Entertainer of the Year award is Luke Combs, an absolute powerhouse in the genre. However, in a recent twist, Combs has cast his vote for another deserving artist.

Speaking to Taste of Country, Combs candidly shared his perspective on who he believes should clinch the ACM Entertainer of the Year Award. In a surprising move, he sidelined himself and endorsed Kane Brown for the accolade.

“I think Kane Brown [should win]. I think that he has never gotten the recognition that I think that he deserves. And I think that he works really hard, and I think that it’d be really cool to see him take it home.”

Despite being nominated for an ACM Award nine times, Brown has only secured the award once, for Video of the Year with his song “Worldwide Beautiful” in 2021. This year marks his first nomination for Entertainer of the Year, positioning him among a group of exceptional nominees, including Luke Combs, Jelly Roll, Cody Johnson, Chris Stapleton, Morgan Wallen, and Lainey Wilson.

Regardless of who takes home the award, this year’s ACM Awards, hosted by Reba McEntire, promise to celebrate the rich tapestry of talent that country music has to offer.

In addition to his endorsement of Brown, Luke Combs has been making headlines with his own musical projects. He announced the forthcoming release of a new song, “Ain’t No Love In Oklahoma,” set to debut on May 16. The song is part of the soundtrack for the movie “Twisters,” which will release in theaters on May 19.
